Quenching, Tempering and Hardness Testing

Quenching/Tempering

Properties of aluminum materials can be specifically influenced by heat treatment. Part of this heat treatment at Sterr & Eder Industrieservice is quenching after solution heat treatment followed by artificial aging. This process will specifically increase toughness, strength/hardness and / or elongation.

Hardness Testing

The Brinell hardness test is an essential auxiliary operation for ensuring product quality in the heat treatment process of aluminum components starting from the raw casting condition (“as cast”) until after the heat treatment process, i.e. after T6 treatment. In Sterr & Eder Industrieservice the hardness gauges are regularly monitored by accredited laboratories to provide an accurate measurement according to DIN EN ISO 6506.
